Your Emotions Are Your Map. Follow What Lights You Up
Joy. Anger. Sadness. Excitement.
The emotions you feel every single day are not just passing moods to be managed or pushed aside.
They are a map. And they are trying to show you where to go.
"The Right Way to Live" Keeps Changing. So Stop Letting It Define You
Don't let yourself be swayed by societal norms, or by the values of "how you should live" instilled in you by your parents and society, don't suppress your true feelings.
Because the "right way to live" changes with the times.
When the yardstick for judging the superiority or inferiority of people and things changes, that judgment can be instantly reversed. Even in the same era, it can be completely different depending on the country and region.
And sometimes, it's nothing more than a set of values designed to conveniently control people.
Don't entrust your life to such things.
Follow the Direction Your Heart Says "Yes" To
So if society's script isn't the answer, what do you follow?
The answer is simpler than you might think.
What excites you. What you love. What pulls at you for no logical reason. What makes you feel alive. That's your direction.
This feeling is something only your heart can experience.
No one else can tell you what it is.
If you're currently unsure of what brings you joy, here's a method: Ask someone you trust what makes you look happy.
However, there's one condition: only ask someone who genuinely wishes you happiness.
You Don't Have to Seek Out Suffering to Build a Good Life
There's an old saying: "Seek out hardship — it builds character."
I'd like to push back on that.
Each person already carries their own unique burdens and suffering. There's no need to willingly throw yourself into pain.
People live to be happy.
No one is born to suffer.
